Snoop Dogg is set to host the halftime show during the matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings on December 25. The performance will stream live on Netflix from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“NFL, Netflix and your uncle Snoop on Christmas Day? We’re servin’ up music, love and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy,” Snoop said in a statement. “That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.”
The set, officially titled “Snoop’s Holiday Halftime Party,” is expected to feature a lineup of surprise guests alongside a selection of his chart topping hits. The NFL Christmas Gameday contest between the Lions and Vikings is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET, with pregame coverage starting earlier in the day at 11 a.m. ET.
“Christmas Gameday just got a whole lot cooler. We’re uniting two global cultural juggernauts, the NFL and the one and only Snoop Dogg, who will drop the hottest halftime show,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, in a statement. “As a West Coast girl and huge fan myself, I can confidently say this is the ultimate gift we could give our members. We’re ready to drop it like it’s hot this holiday celebration!”
Netflix launched its NFL Christmas Gameday tradition last year with a halftime performance from Beyoncé at NRG Stadium in Houston. The superstar delivered her first live renditions of songs from Cowboy Carter, bringing out Shaboozey, Post Malone, and her daughter Blue Ivy to help introduce tracks from the celebrated country album. The project later earned three Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album and Album of the Year.
The performance also led to new accolades for the 35 time Grammy winner, who picked up her first Emmy for outstanding costumes for variety, nonfiction or reality programming. The honor was shared with five collaborators for her NFL halftime spectacle, which became widely known as “Beyoncé Bowl.”
